You got them ready for college. We’ll help them succeed while they’re here at WCU! As an all-inclusive student community, The Husk provides the ideal housing, amenities, and off campus location for unparalleled college experiences. We understand choosing an apartment for college is a big decision so that’s why we want you to have all the information you need. Our team is here to guide you and your student through every step of the process and answer all of your questions. For more information, call us and stay up-to-date on all the latest updates about our WCU off campus housing!
At The Husk, we accept monthly payments via personal check, money order or cashier’s check. They can also be paid online through our easy-to-navigate payment portal. Payments are due on the first day of each month. A late fee will be applied after the third (3rd) day of each month. Only certified funds will be accepted in the office once monthly payments are late.
With our individual rental contracts, your student is responsible only for his or her monthly payments — roommates share no financial liability. If a roommate pays late or moves out early, the others’ fees won’t change. This also means co-signers don’t have to worry about anyone else but their students.
Everything and more! The Husk isn’t your traditional WCU apartment — for the convenience of our residents, we offer an all-inclusive community! Your installment payments include cable, high-speed Internet, water, valet trash, electric (with a cap), a furniture package, flat-screen TVs, pest control, and access to the wide range of resort-style community amenities specifically tailored to the needs and wants of students.
Our student community strives to make college living as simple as possible for residents — to help students accomplish a stress-free lifestyle, we offer 12-month housing contracts, which span from August to July each year. Our contracts allow students to move into their apartments near WCU just in time for the upcoming semester.
The Husk is a brand new student community, currently under construction, opening Fall 2020. We will be welcoming our first residents on August 14th, 2020. *Dates for future leasing terms will be established at a later date.
The move-in process at The Husk is simple — just stop by the leasing office during your student’s specific move-in window, pick up the apartment, bedroom and mail key, and get all the parking information.

Common areas include furnishings such as a sofa, lounge chair, flat-screen TV, coffee table, barstools, in-unit washer and dryer, stainless-steel kitchen appliances.
Each unit comes equipped with the appliances students could ever need. These include a washer, dryer, dishwasher, disposal, stove, self-cleaning oven, microwave and a refrigerator with an ice maker.

Yes! At The Husk, we know how vital fast, reliable Internet is for student success in and out of the classroom. We have high-speed Internet in every unit as well as across the property.
The management team at The Husk has your student’s back. The leasing staff works on-site during regular business hours and remains on-call after hours. We also employ a professional maintenance team to keep everything running smoothly. Your student might be heading out into the world to be independent, but he or she always has our support.
Your student’s goal is to live with friends. Your goal is to have them stay with good role models. We’ve got the perfect solution for each of you: roommate-matching services. Free to all our residents, this service uses questionnaires to pair up students with similar interests and preferences.
At The Husk, the safety and comfort of your student is a top priority, and we’ve taken steps to ensure the welfare of our residents. Our apartments are equipped with robust controlled-access systems. These make it easy for residents to gain entrance to their homes yet next-to-impossible for anybody else to do so. Bedroom doors also have keyed locks for an extra layer of security. Our staff is on-call 24/7, as well, to offer services (for example: to receive packages that shouldn’t be left outside) and address any safety concerns from our residents.
Designed with student comfort and enjoyment, our community amenities offer every resident what they need to make the most of their time as Catamounts. From lounging by the saltwater pool and relaxing in the social lounge, to hitting the books in our individual and group study rooms and business center, students have every tool they need for success — right at their fingertips.
More than an apartment complex, The Husk is a fully developed community designed with the needs of WCU students in mind. While our resort-style amenities make life outside the classroom fun and exciting, we also provide study resources to help students succeed academically. Our dedicated study rooms, which have library-quality seating and blazing-fast Wi-Fi, provide quiet spaces where students can do assigned readings, homework, and test prep. Meanwhile, each apartment bedroom has a desk and chair that serve as a private study area.
